I figured that since we haven't had one like this for about 100 years or so that this should be documented.
These were taken with my Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime android with "eclipse shades" held precariously in front of the lens for most of the shots. I tweaked the ISO and exposure on several of them to get the look of the waxing crescent, though I got a lot of halo anyway.
I
know my Canon EOS C500 DSLR, or an actual non-digital film camera would have done a
much better job, but anyway...
